1952 Marx, Running (Wee) Scottie (U.K. version) in Original Box
Classic tin litho clockwork pooch by Marx complete with original box. This is the tan British version with blue eyes, but with a Marx U.S. logo. My research indicated that only black Wee Scottie's were made in the U.S. Most likely the author (Greenberg's Guide to Marx Toys, Volume 1) was unaware of this version since it has the correct patent number for the 1952 U.S. toy, as well as the Marx U.S. logo. Described as a tan pup with red and black checkerboard coat trimmed in blue, with yellow lettering. Front two paws are metal. Two large metal discs move him forward. Two small wooden wheels in the rear provide the traction. Ears and tail are rubber, complete and original. Red and white illustrated box shows more realistic actual Scottie dog, but with two little peg legs up front. Size: 5-1/4" long. Sold: Dec. 2006
